Health & Safety and Asset Management Specialist

THE ROLE

New Century Education Group is seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Executive with additional responsibilities over Asset Management to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing effective risk management strategies, and tracking asset utilisation across our school campuses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health and Safety Management:

• Review, develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with ADEK, civil defence and best practices.

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of school facilities to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.

• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of health and safety concerns and incidents.

• Organise and conduct training sessions for staff, students, and contractors on health and safety practices and emergency procedures.

• Keep abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in health and safety management and implement necessary updates or improvements.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across all school campuses and develop mitigation plans to address identified risks.

• Collaborate with Operations, SLT and department heads to assess the impact of operational activities on health and safety and recommend preventive measures.

• Monitor and analyse incident reports, near misses, and accidents to identify trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

• Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, codes, and standards, as well as internal policies and procedures.

• Liaise with ADEK and participate in inspections, inquiries, and compliance audits as required.

• Maintain accurate records of health and safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.

Asset Management Oversight:

• Collaborate with schools facilities management team to oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of ADEK and NCE school assets, including buildings, equipment, and infrastructure.

• Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimise the lifecycle of assets, minimize downtime, and reduce operational costs.

• Conduct regular asset inspections and assessments to identify maintenance needs, depreciation trends, and write offs.

• Coordinate with procurement and finance departments to ensure efficient asset procurement, inventory management, and budget allocation.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in health and safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within the education sector or a similar industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong understanding of UAE health and safety regulations, codes, and standards, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyse data, and develop practical solutions.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and health and safety management software.

    A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a National Examination in Occupational Safety and Health certificate (EBOSH) or an Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certificate.
