JOB PURPOSE

  • The Instructional Coach will focus on individual professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about research-based effective instruction for teachers.

  • In order to meet this objective, the Instructional Coach will provide personalised, 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers.

  • To use data to target each teacher’s particular needs, as well as using data to measure the impact on their performance, via observations, other data sources and demonstrating improved student outcomes (achievement data).

RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner

  • Work collaboratively by assisting teachers in all aspects of their practice, assessment tasks, curriculum implementation, classroom management and measuring the impact of such support.

  • Provide support in analysing student assessment data.

  • Assist teachers with designing instructional classes based on assessment data.

  • Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when appropriate

  • Provide support for classroom engagement and management strategies

  • Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum.

  • Suggest targeted resources related to instruction and curriculum.

  • Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.

  • Model effective, differentiated classes when rnecessary

  • Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers.

  • Work positively toward meeting identified NCE improvement goals and the priority identified by the school or school(s) in question

  • Support Directors and others with performance planning for team members who are subject to this formal procedure

  • Assist staff in the use and application of specific curriculum, technology, innovative practices and resources that enhances the student learning experience.

  • Provide an individualized action plan for the staff being supported using a variety of data sources including lesson observations, student

  • achievement data and other reliable data sources as appropriate.

  • Handle confidential information with tact, discretion and in compliance with ADEK regulations.

  • Be a coach and mentor to selected staff members promoting best practice and using the latest research to support improvements in practice

  • Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations and professional research.

  • Perform clerical duties such as making copies, operating office equipment, and record keeping.

  • At times, teach in your respective subject areas as when required.
